Wyke College MAFTAS 2021

Whilst working as a Digital Media technican at Wyke Sixth form College, one of my main tasks later in the year was to produce the MAFTAS 2021 Ceramony for an online presentation due to COVID-19 restrictions being in place for large scale events.

I worked tirelessly on this one in and out of my working hours, as well as during a period I caught COVID-19 and had to work from home.

Here are the tasks I completed in the process of producing MAFTAS 2021:

- Created a fully operational green screen set up with an announcement desk and podium, as well as microphones for the teachers to talk into.

- Filmed 1-1 with students to recieve their feedback on their course.

- Created multiple comedic and portfolio compilations together for students to enjoy memories they've made throughout the year and to see their work in the spotlight.

- Broadcasted the project on social media with John Hamlin, my marketing manager to reach a wider audience to boost engagement.

- Edited and mastered the full film and audio all myself on Final Cut Pro X managing  over 100GB of data on my main work harddrive and backup disk.

Wyke's 2nd Year Theatre Showcase

From the success of the MAFTAS 2021 filming at Wyke College, I was given the opportunity to support the head of Marketing and my ex-second-year Media Studies teacher John Hamlin in the filming of Wyke's 2nd Year Theatre Showcase livestream.

Myself and John filmed the student show with over five different camera set ups on tripods, with a sixth one handheld to obtain close tracking shots. Additionally, I also worked on the operations motherboard where we could switch between the different camera angles to give emphasise the differnt emotions and expressions of the students throughout the play. John also taught me how to set up a YouTube livestream and fix potential technical interruptions during this session.

This was a great opportunity to develop experience in operating a livestream smoothly from working with a range of high-tech equipment.

Wyke's Legally Blonde Premiere

My final production of 2021 was another opportunity handed to me at Wyke College by John Hamlin and the theatre team shooting Wyke's AS (1st-year) and A-Level (2nd-year) Drama and Dance premier of Legally Blonde.

I would work on a very similar set up Wyke's 2nd Year Theatre Showcase livestream, but this time just purely filming on the master camera and utilising the zoom features to gain close shots and wide shots of the stage to capture the whole show.

2021 Showreel

After my first few years developing film and media-based projects, I had never showcased any of my work and in 2021 wanted to produce one featuring some of the best snapshiots from my productions for my portfolio and to send to employers for potential film work.

Take a look at it above. My next showreel will be created after I hae worked on a few more productions to show off!

Basshive Visual Set 2022

This video was one of my biggest music projects to date. Myself and my friend Paolo Deyes had created a full green screen set up in my bedroom with several lights ...

After an exhausting nearly two hours of recording and four hours set up, I was super happy to send this off alongside my visuals to Owen Sutton, the owner of Basshive to key in my visuals and calibrate my audio to the visuals, ready for release!

My mix is the longest Basshive visual set to date, be sure to check it out above!

Step Up, Step In, Speak Up

My final project I worked on with the filming crew at my Eskimo Soup employment was creating various promotional videos towards a campaign for The Univeristy of Hull. The campaign was to raise awareness and encourage young women to step up, speak up and for others to step in and support them when in a situation involving sexual harassment.

I had the opprtunity to work as an assistant producer, script editor, actor and sound recordist for all of these shoots which we filmed across Hull's city, surrounding artea and in various Eskimo Soup studios.
